Sandringham East Primary School is a vibrant and connected community, proudly supported by a thriving and ever-growing Arts program. Led by two passionate educators with extensive experience in both education and the arts, the program continues to flourish, providing students with rich opportunities to explore creativity and express themselves.
Each year, the strength of the Arts program has continued to build and in 2026, we took it to the next level. For the first time, we opened our doors to the wider community, inviting families and friends to celebrate the incredible work of our students and the diverse perspectives that make up our school.
ArtsFest showcased a wide range of artistic forms, reflecting both student voice and cultural diversity. The evening was brought to life with live music, a food van, and an atmosphere that was buzzing from start to finish. Prior to the official opening of the exhibition, students also took to the stage to perform a series of energetic and engaging dance routines, setting the tone for the celebration ahead.
A standout feature of this year’s event was our interactive digital treasure hunt. Students were interviewed about their artwork, sharing insights into their ideas, inspirations, and creative processes. These interviews were recorded and made accessible via QR codes displayed alongside each piece. Visitors could scan the codes to hear directly from the artists themselves adding a powerful layer of connection and authenticity to the exhibition.
To add an extra element of excitement, code words were hidden within the videos, forming part of a competition that encouraged visitors to fully engage with the experience. Winners were drawn on the night, much to the delight of our students.
This inaugural community ArtsFest was a tremendous success, and it has firmly secured its place as a highlight of the Sandringham East Primary School calendar. We look forward to building on this tradition in the years to come.
